MEET THE ARTIST
Antonio Labuhar combines tactile craftsmanship with poetic softness. Working with organic wool, his pieces move between sculpture, abstraction and interior design – creating sensory anchors in an increasingly disembodied world.
Born in 1996 in Zell am See, the Vienna-based Croatian artist creates works that transform spaces and distill emotion. After a period in Berlin working as an Motion Designer & VFX-Artist, he returned to Vienna and completed his Master’s degree in Digital Design & Experimental Media at the University of Applied Sciences St. Pölten in 2022.
His practice explores materiality, space, and emotion – balancing physical presence with imagination and hybrid forms of experience. Each work establishes a dialogue between softness and object, intimacy and form.
“My work is driven by the need to create a counterbalance to the hardness and acceleration of contemporary life. For me, wool is more than a material – it is an anchor, a soft resonant space where thoughts and emotions take shape.
Through sculpture, abstraction, and interior, I explore the interconnections of materiality, space, and the body. I am interested in the tension between physical presence and imagination, between functional use and poetic meaning.
Each piece emerges from a deliberate, slow process – handmade with natural and sustainable materials. My focus is not perfection, but invitation: to pause, to feel, to connect. I want to show that softness can be a form of strength, and that art can open spaces in which we encounter ourselves anew.”
